My name is Heather Cook and I am from Temecula, California. I was born in Carson City, Nevada and lived there until the age of 2. I then moved to southern California and have lived in Orange County and Menifee. In high school, my older brother's nickname was Cookie, therefore, I got the nickname Little Cookie which later became "LC". I love to ride motorcycles, when I am not working I am either out dancing or out riding. My family and friends mean the world to me and I try to spend as much time with them as possible. I have been playing volleyball for about 10 years and now coach. It is such a fun experience to be able to coach at my High School. I went to college at UC Irvine and received my BA in Criminology. I graduated from UC Irvine in June 2006, and started working for the Riverside Sheriffs Department July, 2006. It was an amazing job, I worked for the training department and basically played all day and got paid for it. In March 2007, I got a job with the Oceanside Police Department as a Field Evidence Technician and moved out to Oceanside to be close to my job.
My experiences with technology are definitely nothing special. There are programs in which I use a lot but I would not say I am an expert or extremely advanced in any of them. In order to figure out how programs work, I try different things and try to teach myself. I use Word and the Internet on a daily basis both at work and for personal use. I am a PC person, I had never used a Mac until class last Tuesday. Most of the computers that I will be using for this class have Office 03.
The CSUSM/COE mission statement is not your typical mission statement. To me the statement seems to be written with a lot of thought behind it with true belief in the education program. I like the part written about what they are committed to because all three of those items are very important to me. The part on how they will be exemplified, also shows that it is more than just coming to school and teaching what is in front of you that day and going home. It is about the future and the overall picture. After reading this statement, I feel CSUSM has a positive attitude and outlook to train educators who can be an asset to this society.

What High School do you teach volleyball at? That's so awesome! And I know you told me about your job on the first day of class but I have to say it again... Your job seems so cool!!!!!!!
Volleyball is a great sport. I enjoy watching and playing the game. Maybe you should contact the CBS studios and see if they are interested in a CSI San Diego and try out for a part or be a consultant.

Hi Heather,
That is very cool that you play volleyball. I played through high school but was forced to quit because of new injuries. Do you still play?
